Saracens FC goes head to head with the TKI

Conflict management tool brought into the squad to boost self-awareness and defuse potential problems

Personal Development Officer adds the TKI to Saracens’ teambuilding toolkit

Saracens logoRugby union club Saracens has used the MBTI instrument in individual and group sessions for many years. One of the club’s coaches first made the link between the MBTI and the TKI after reading a magazine article about development work at an international company in the financial sector. After making enquiries, he discovered that the TKI was one of OPP’s tools.

“The TKI will help us maintain the harmony that already exists at the club”, says David Jones, Saracens’ Psychology and Personal Development Officer. “People often benefit from looking at things from a different perspective. A tool like the TKI, that raises awareness of potential conflict areas and helps people understand themselves, is going to be a great help.”

The tool will be used in one-to-one sessions, as and when needed, as part of the armoury available in the players’ Personal Development Plans.

"It’s not going to be a blanket approach with the TKI”, says David. “I see it being used largely as a preventative measure, managing potential areas of conflict before they arise. I think it will be particularly useful for young players just coming into the team.”

Established in 1876, Saracens is a leading rugby union club, based at the newly built Allianz Park in London. The club is a member of the Aviva Premiership, the top level of domestic rugby union in England.
