What are the biggest challenges when it comes to working across cultures? Between different time zones, language barriers, and differences in regional and country cultures, there’s a lot that can go wrong. Luckily, common conflicts and communication barriers can often be resolved with a little forethought, training and psychological insight.
In this episode of The Myers-Briggs Company Podcast, we’re joined by Frank Garten, an accomplished author, speaker, and consultant known for his expertise in cross-cultural management and global leadership.
In this episode, Garten highlights the most common challenges for teams working across cultures and what to do about them.
“When we talk about country culture, there are a few different elements that come in,” explains Garten during the interview. “For example, does the culture communicate directly, like we’re doing in this podcast? More than 80% of cultures around the world have indirect communication patterns. But if you come from a direct communicating culture, like the USA or the Netherlands, to you their communication patterns sound vague.”
By listening, you’ll gain insights into working across countries and cultures, and learn how to better prepare your leaders and teams to communicate effectively with people and teams of different cultures.
