Why are we researching virtual teams?

When teams use technology to collaborate across geographical boundaries, organizations get numerous benefits – longer operating hours, reduced travel costs and agile responses, for example. 

But building and developing relationships, cohesion and trust remains a challenge. These challenges are not exclusive to virtual teams, and we are interested to explore these issues within co-located teams too.
